Vlasenica marks 33 years since the liberation of this municipality in the last war

Објављено:

Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković attended today in Vlasenica the ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the liberation of this municipality in the Patriotic War.

He laid wreaths at the War Cemetery and at the Square of Serbian Soldiers and thus paid honor to more than 300 Serbian heroes from Vlasenica area who laid their lives in the foundations of our freedom.

"In June and July 1942, here in Vlasenica, a terrible massacre of Serbian people happened when more than 200 Serbs were killed. What is particularly painful is that the same scenario was attempted to be repeated fifty years later, in 1992", Prime Minister Višković said.

The Prime Minister said that unfortunately over 300 lives were lost in the conflicts of the 1990s, both soldiers and civilians, which represents huge sacrifice for a local community like Vlasenica.

He emphasized that the Republic of Srpska remains committed to peace and stability and that people of the Republic of Srpska never called for war. We defend our own  freedom, our property, our people and our Republic of Srpska and will always do so, with dignity and determination.

Finally, Prime Minister Višković congratulated the 21th of April, the Liberation of Day of Vlasenica.

"I congratulate the mayor, the municipal leadership and all citizens of Vlasenica the Liberation Day. We celebrate this holiday with pride, but also with deep respect for all those who gave their lives. It is the obligation of all of us to never forget their sacrifice and to continue to build peace, unity and a strong Republic of Srpska", Prime Minister Višković said.
