Prime Minister of Republic of Srpska Radovan
Višković attended today in Bratunac the commemoration ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary
of crimes committed against Serbs in Podrinje area from 1992 to 1995.
The Prime Minister stated on this occasion that the Serbian people have been
gathering in Bratunac for 33 years to commemorate the crime without punishment and said:"I just wonder how many more years we will have
to wait? No one has been held accountable for these crimes, and Serbs have so
far been sentenced to 1,200 years for crimes committed mostly against the
Bosniak people, while Bosniaks were
sentenced to some 100 years, and Croats to less than 40 years".
Prime Minister Višković continued by saying that the largest crime in
Bosnia and Herzegovina occurred in Podrinje, in terms of population and recalled that the largest crimes against Serbs
occurred mainly on major Serbian holidays. On the other hand there were attempts to present the Serbian people as criminals and to
present some new, false truth.
"The Government of Republic of Srpska
decided to build a memorial complex in memory of all the victims. This idea was
initiated by the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik and myself. It
will be built at the entrance to Bratunac, next to the main road and will
cover more than 40,000 square meters. BAM 600,000 has already been given for the
expropriation", Prime Minister Višković said and added that the memorial complex will contain the
names and pictures of all those killed and deceased from the area of the
middle Podrinje and Birče.
Prime Minister Višković stressed that the Republic of
Srpska respects all commemorations of the suffering of other peoples, and
called on the Serbian people from the Podrinje area to be dignified on July 11,
when Bosniaks commemorate the sufferings in Srebrenica and not to allow a
single incident.
He said that the Government of Republic of Srpska has
prepared a report with the world's leading experts which contains the truth
about the suffering of Serbs from Srebrenica and Birač.
"That report will be distributed to all schools
and libraries, so take it and see it, as well as the report on the sufferings of
Serbs in Sarajevo. You will see that what they have been telling us today,
especially the foreign media, is not exactly true," Prime Minister
Višković said and added that Serbian people do not provoke,
but that they have the right to protect their victims and Serbian mothers.
"Only the ambassadors of Serbia and Russia came
to Bratunac today. Those who did not come, speaks about them, not
about us", Prime Minister Višković concluded.
