The adoption of the first Constitution of the
Republic of Srpska on February 28, 1992, formalized the political and democratic
struggle of the Serbian people in the then Bosnia and Herzegovina, the struggle
for their rights and survival in this region.
The awareness of the political representatives of Serbs at those times and the strength to present such a significant document is unmeasurable. Then, as today, the significance of that decision is
multifold. The Constitution that was adopted then was and remained the
framework within which the Serbian people preserved their rights and freedoms.
This date confirmed the fact that the Serbian people
are a constitutional people, a people that respected and implemented the
Constitution of both the former SFRY, as well as today's BiH. Both then and
today, the intentions of others were not the same as the intentions of the
Serbian people, the outvoting that we experienced then is what we experience
today, the principles of dismantling the constitutional framework have remained
exactly the same, and that is the space of BiH without Serbs, with only one
people, according to the principle of one person, one vote.
Thanks to the decisions of Serb political
representatives back in Fbruary 1992, which enabled us to have our own
Constitution, the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, we can today guarantee
all rights and freedoms in the Republic of Srpska to our people and all citizens.
That is why we must remain resolute in defending the Republic of Srpska.
Without the Republic of Srpska and its institutions,
there is no Serbian people in BiH, that is the fact, an undeniable truth that we
face every day.
The unconstitutional verdict against the institution
of the President of the Republika Srpska is a proof and confirmation that history
repeats itself, but at the same time it is confirmation and encouragement for us to fight stronger for our rights, for our freedom, and that means the fight for
the Constitution.
