Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Savo Minić stated
today in East Sarajevo that wartime doctors and medical workers made an immense
contribution to the defense of the Republic of Srpska and that awarding them with decorations was the least the Srpska could do to show gratitude for their sacrifice.
Addressing the decorated doctors and medical workers
from the Sarajevo-Romanija region, Prime Minister Minić recalled the
significance of their support for the fighters on the front lines.
"You are a part of the great struggle for the Republic of Srpska, and your contribution, is as valuable as, perhaps even greater, of those of us on the front lines, derived from the fact that we knew we
had you, that we had a sense of security, and that you would give your best", Prime Minister said.
He stressed extremely difficult conditions
under which the wounded were treated during the war, noting that medical
workers, facing limited resources, were often forced to improvise in order to
save lives.
Prime Minister Minić spoke specifically about the
humane and emotional aspects of their work, ranging from satisfaction of saving a life
to the moments when they could not deliver good news to families and fellow
soldiers. "I believe you were always happy when you could convey to the relatives
or fellow soldiers that things were 'good', meaning that lives
were saved. Likewise, I know how sad it must have been when there
was no hope of rescue", Prime Minister of Republic of Srpska, Savo Mini' said.
The Prime Minister of Republic of Srpska stated that the
sacrifices and contributions of wartime doctors and medical personnel must not
be forgotten.
"This is the least Republika Srpska can do for
you. It was an honor to be with you today and I
congratulate you once again", Prime Minister Minić said.
