Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Savo Minić and the Minister of Education and Culture Borivoj Golubović visited today the 'Stanko Rakita' Elementary School in Banja Luka where distribution of free textbooks took place.
"I am very happy with regard to implementation of the Government's decision to provide free textbooks. What was also very important was to ensure that printing and
distribution of textbooks is done before the start of the school year and therefore, as a
parent, I can say that every student shall have complete
textbooks at the beginning of the school year", Prime Minister Minić said.
The Prime Minister said that it had happened that
bookstores were missing some textbooks even few days before the school year was to start, and that the Government's support in providing free textbooks was
significant because, for more than 80,000 elementary school students in Republic of Srpska, all textbooks are provided on time. The total value of the
program of provision of free textbooks is BAM 16 million out of which 12
million is provided by the Government of Republic of Srpska, and 4 million is allocated by the cities and municipalities.
