Prime Minister Minić visits Prijedor, major projects for further development of the city

Prime Minister of Republic of Srpska Savo Minić stated today during his visit to Prijedor that in the last two months alone, the Government has approved more than 30 million BAM for various projects in Prijedor.

The Prime Minister met with the Mayor of Prijedor Slobodan Javor and on this occasion said that the Government was actively involved in numerous projects in Prijedor, from major renovation of the city hospital, flood protection, to significant investments in the education system.

'We are working on major projects that will yet to produce their effects', Prime Minister said and announced that a public procurement for the reconstruction of the Prijedor hospital, worth BAM 196 million, will be announced on September 1, this year.

In addition to this, Prijedor will also get a new center for higher education, for which 15 million BAM has been provided from the RS Budget, while 2.5 million has been approved for renovation of schools.

Also, in cooperation with the local administration the Government is working on taking over the "Saničani" fishfarm, which will be managed by the city of Prijedor in the future.

During his visit, the Prime Minister visited the newly built flood protection system in Prijedor settlement of Tukovi and on this occasion said that the Government will assist in completion of the sewage system and asphalting of the road in this settlement, as well as installing street lighting.

The Government of Republic of Srpska has invested nearly 8.5 million BAM in flood protection and water management sector in the city of Prijedor in the past four years.

The Prime Minister also visited the newly built kindergarten in the settlement of Pećani which, the Prime Minister said would provide high quality  conditions for eduaction of preschool children, and the Government would, together with local authorities, continue to actively work on resolving this issue.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Savo Minić then visited today the newly built sports hall in Omarska near Prijedor, which construction the Government financed with BAM 2,000,000.

Prime Minister Minić emphasized that this was an exceptionally high-quality sports facility with latest equipment, which will serve students, sports clubs and cultural and artistic societies for their activities.

"When we see that even in small towns we have such facilities, it creates the image that we need to send, which is that even in smaller communities, families who have decided to stay here have all the infrastructure and conditions for their children to practice many types of sport", Prime Minister Minić said.

During the visit, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the fallen soldiers from Prijedor area by laying a wreath at the memorial room.
