Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Savo Minić attended today the ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the formation of the First Prnjavor Light Infantry Brigade of the Army of Republic of Srpska.

Prime Minister Minić emphasized that it was an honor to attend the event, noting that this Brigade made an enormous contribution to the defense of the Republic of Srpska and the Serb people.

"This is one of the authentic brigades of the Army of Republic of Srpska, formed just prior to the onset of the aggression and the events that befell the Serb people. Its creation was the Serb people's response to the suffering endured throughout the history", the Prime Minister said and recalled that the Brigade was in action in almost every battlefield and that its wartime commander, Col. Vlado Živković, was known for never being more than 500 meters away from his soldiers and the front line.

"It was great to come here and hear all these stories, stories we must pass on to younger generations so they understand how Republic of Srpska was created. It is up to us holding political office to honor their sacrifice through our actions, by upholding the status of veterans, and through everything else that must be done in Republic of Srpska", Prime Minister emphasized.

Brigade Commander Colonel Vlado Živković saluted to Prime Minister Minić, who greeted other members of the unit and commended them for their courage and achivements during the war.

Approximately 4,600 soldiers served in the First Prnjavor Light Infantry Brigade of the Army of Republic of Srpska during the Defense-Patriotic War;  out of them, 240 were killed and 11 are still reported missing.
