The Sector for Scientific and Technological Development, among other things, performs administrative and professional tasks within the competence of the Ministry: analysis and monitoring of the state of science in the Republic of Srpska and the world, creation of policy, strategy and action plan in the field of science, preparation of laws and other regulations from the Department's scope of work, drafting development plans and co-financing of scientific research activities, execution of laws and other regulations related to the financing of scientific research activities from the budget funds of the Republic of Srpska, implementation of public tender procedures for co-financing of scientific research programmes and projects, determination of criteria for evaluation and selection according to announced tenders, recording of the results of scientific research , preparation and processing of statistical data and analytical and informative materials from the field of scientific research activities, encouragement, promotion and monitoring of the inclusion of scientific research organizations and researchers from the Republic of Srpska in international scientific research programmes, preparation of programmes and agreements on international scientific research cooperation in accordance with the Constitution, supervision of legality work of scientific research organizations, etc.
