The international scientific and professional symposium "Infoteh Jahorina 2024" organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Istočno Sarajevo was opened in Jahorina, where 208 works from 23 countries will be presented.

Zoran Bjelajac, Assistant Minister for Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Srpska, said that it was a great honor to be at a conference of international character, and reminded that in the past 23 years, the relevant ministry has allocated 130,000 BAM to co-finance this scientific meeting.

- In our ministry, this scientific meeting is categorized as a meeting of the first category and is very important for universities and faculties, both in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the surrounding area, and beyond - said Bjelajac.

He pointed out that all the works presented at this meeting are included in international databases, and added that the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska will continue supporting this meeting.

The Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, Božidar Popović, said that 208 works will be presented at this 24th symposium over the next three days, including 19 student works not only from faculties from the Republic of Srpska, but also from the region.

- This year we have works from 23 countries, from Bangladesh, India, China, to Canada and the USA, regional countries and the EU. Electrical engineering is a field that changes from day to day. The topics that bring together electrical engineering and the whole civilization is something called the "internet of things", and lately a lot of attention has been devoted to cyber security and artificial intelligence - Popović pointed out.

He announced a plenary lecture on the use of artificial intelligence for today, adding that a lot of attention should be paid to it.

The rector of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, Milan Kulić, said that "Infoteh Jahorina" is one of the best scientific gatherings organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Istočno Sarajevo.

According to him, what is important for the University of Istočno Sarajevo due to its ranking is that the approved papers from this scientific meeting are published in the SCOPUS database of international scientific papers.

Kulić also said that he is proud that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering dominates when it comes to international cooperation, and added that this higher education institution is currently a participant in six international projects.
