Science Festival on May 23rd and 24th 2024

The Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska is organizing for the 12th consecutive year the Science Festival on May 23rd and 24th 2024, attracting the attention of children from kindergartens, primary and secondary school students, as well as university students from across Srpska.

During the two days of the festival, visitors can expect more than 100 different exhibits, experiments, workshops, planetarium projections, and visits to the aquarium and terrarium. The 12th Science Festival will be held at two locations: the University City (Campus) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Banja Luka.

At the Campus, visitors will be able to see a large exhibition of experiments at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, as well as participate in workshops organised by the Faculty of Political Sciences, Academy of Arts, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Philology, and the Institute of Genetic Resources. Workshops such as "Modern Journalism and AI Tools", "Diplomat for a Day", "Beautiful Writing", "Calligraphy", "School of Archaeology", "What Does the Brain Have to Do with It?", "Little Gardener", and "Painting Workshops" are just some of the activities that will be part of this year's Science Festival.

At the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Banja Luka (Mladena Stojanovića 2, Banja Luka), visitors will have the opportunity to visit the planetarium, aquarium, and terrarium.

Exhibits and activities include the chemical clock, plants in a test tube, levitating graphite, nature's pharmacy, life in a drop of water, brain teasers with strings, how plants absorb water, do plants move?, 3d printing, robotics, the living fossils museum, the amazing life of horsehair, do parasites rule the world?, the realised dream of a lake, my city from a swallow's perspective, genie in a bottle, chemical cocktails, tesla's transformer, fountain in a glass, illusions, banana DNA, how cheese is made, colour magic, and more. This is just part of what awaits visitors at this year's Science Festival.

During the two-day showcase of scientific and popular content, the doors of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The goal of this Science Festival is to present science in the most engaging way possible and to popularise it, especially among preschoolers, primary and secondary school students, as well as other visitors.

This year's Science Festival features the participation of 21 faculties and several secondary schools, as well as the Institute of Genetic Resources and the Police Training Administration.

Admission to all Science Festival activities is free of charge.
