The 19th International Scientific Conference "Modern Materials" has opened in Banja Luka, bringing together experts from 14 countries.
The Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Draga Mastilović PhD, who is attending the conference, stressed that the significance of the event is also reflected in the fact that more than 1,800 scientific papers have been presented and more than 4,500 scientists have participated over the past 18 years.
"The Ministry will continue to support the organisation of this conference, particularly following the development of the Science Development Plan for the Republic of Srpska, under which the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska (ANURS) will have a leading position among scientific institutions," the Minister told reporters ahead of the conference.
He stressed that ANURS deserved this recognition, given the strength and importance of the international cooperation it has established, and added that it would always be able to count on the assistance and support of the Ministry.
President of ANURS Dragoljub Mirjanić said that a total of 92 scientific research papers by 282 authors and co-authors would be presented at the conference, including 13 through plenary lectures and 79 as part of the conference sessions.
He added that modern materials represent one of the most dynamic fields across all areas of human work and life and that, thanks to artificial intelligence, they can now be developed much faster than before.
Professor at the University of Kragujevac and foreign member of ANURS Nenad Filipović said that there was no scientist who did not use artificial intelligence in their research, adding that this should not be a cause for concern because it is an additional tool that will accelerate scientific research.
Participants in the conference are coming from Serbia, Slovenia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Georgia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Montenegro and South Africa.
