Organised by the Russian Historical Society, whose Representative Office in the Republic of Srpska operates within the Institute of Historical Sciences of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, a round table discussion on the preservation and protection of cultural heritage in conflict zones was held today in Moscow.

The round table was also attended online by the Head of the Representative Office of the Russian Historical Society and the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Draga Mastilović PhD.

Minister Mastilović spoke about the centuries-long destruction of Serbian cultural and historical heritage in the territory of present-day BiH, as well as contemporary efforts to preserve and protect it. He also informed his Russian colleagues about the latest attempts by Bosniak and Croat members of the Presidency of BiH to illegally appoint new members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH by outvoting the Serbian member of the Presidency, Željka Cvijanović.

"For the Republic of Srpska, this represents yet another attack on Serbian cultural and historical heritage in BiH, as was confirmed by the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska at yesterday's session," it was stated during the discussion.

The round table was chaired by the President of the Russian Historical Society, Sergey Yevgenyevich Naryshkin. The event was also attended by the Chair of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, Ruslan Gagkuev, and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky.
