Minister Mastilović Visits the I. M. Sechenov Medical University in Moscow

The Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Draga Mastilović PhD, visited the I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, the oldest, largest and one of the most prestigious higher education and scientific research institutions in the Russian Federation, where he met with Rector Pyotr Vitalyevich Glybochko.

During the visit, Minister Mastilović was introduced to the work of the institution, which was founded in 1766 and includes the country's largest university oncology clinic, with more than 4,000 beds. Particular emphasis at the institution is placed on modern educational models, the integration of science and clinical practice, and the application of innovative technologies in medicine.

On this occasion, the Minister also toured the Museum of the History of Medicine and the Biomedical Science and Technology Park, both of which form part of the University and within which 19 institutes operate.

The Minister emphasised that the Republic of Srpska sees significant potential for enhancing co-operation in the fields of higher education, science and healthcare.

"Co-operation with Sechenov University represents an exceptional opportunity for our students, researchers and healthcare professionals. We are particularly interested in joint study programmes, the exchange of students and academic staff, as well as the sharing of knowledge and experience," the Minister stated.

Rector Pyotr Vitalyevich Glybochko expressed readiness to establish concrete forms of co-operation with universities and institutions in the Republic of Srpska, noting that the institution, as a leader in the field of medical education and healthcare in the Russian Federation, continuously invests in the development of scientific innovation and international partnerships.

"We are open to co-operation with the Republic of Srpska in various areas – from education and professional training to joint research and the development of new medical technologies," Glybochko stated.

During the meeting, discussions also focused on the possibilities of organising joint scientific conferences, professional training programmes and exchanges of experience in the field of clinical practice, with particular emphasis on oncology and the application of modern therapeutic methods.

This visit represents an important step towards strengthening the international co-operation of the Republic of Srpska in the fields of education and healthcare, while opening new opportunities for improving the quality of the academic and healthcare systems.
