The Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Željko Budimir PhD, signed today with representatives of student organizations contracts on the payment of funds for 29 student projects in the amount of 200,000 BAM.
- Students have submitted good projects. Out of 31 projects, 29 were accepted. I am especially glad that there are more and more scientific and professional conferences in the projects, as well as sports and social activities - said Minister Budimir after signing the contracts in Banja Luka.
He says this ministry is trying to maintain accountability in challenging times, and support all student organizations at both public universities.
- Boys and girls who represent these student organizations behave responsibly with resources, from formal to essential things - said the minister.
The President of the Union of Students of the Republic of Srpska, Andrej Ševa, expressed his gratitude to the line ministry for the support, and added that cooperation implies financial support, but also joint work on all important issues, including the Law on Higher Education.
- I am glad that the ministry recognized our work and the efforts of the representatives of all student organizations. All our projects will aim at improving student standards - emphasized Ševa.
The international IT conference is a project of students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka and is one of the largest in the region.
- The project was implemented in December. It is the largest IT conference that has been held. Our goal is to raise the conference to a higher level - said the president of the Union of Students of the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the University of Banja Luka, Aleksandar Jelić.
The President of the Student Organization of the Faculty of Medicine from Foča, Nemanja Mitrović, stated that at this faculty, students also have lectures in English, and that accordingly they applied for a project that will introduce foreign students to the natural beauty and potential of Srpska.
- The project will last during the summer. We will also implement a project of a scientific nature, and we are talking about a biomedical congress in August in Foča, where we will gather a large number of students from the region - said Mitrović.
The relevant ministry has been regularly allocating funds for programs and projects since 2005, and so far, close to three million BAM have been allocated from the budget of the Republic of Srpska for these purposes.
