Eight centuries ago, Saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop, the founder of the Serbian church, state and education system, showed the path that the Serbian people should follow, a path of enlightenment, schooling, education and mutual love, said today in Banja Luka the Assistant Minister for Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska Jelena Starčević.

Starčević, who attended the reception at the University of Banja Luka on the occasion of celebrating the Day of the Republic and Saint Sava, pointed out that Serbs should respect and follow that path.

- This is necessary, for the sake of not only our ancestors and what Saint Sava passed on, but also for the future generations - Starčević told reporters.

She added that the University of Banja Luka plays a significant role in the educational development of future generations, as it represents the backbone of individual development.

- That is why it is important to carefully create educational policies, to strategically approach the creation of the Serbian educational space and to carefully assess every measure we implement, because we no longer have room for mistakes - said Starčević.

The Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Radoslav Gajanin, emphasized the importance of celebrating the Day of the Republic and Saint Sava at the University, because members of the academic community participated in the creation and development of Srpska.

- Members of the academic community hold significant positions in the institutions of Srpska, and we are obliged to help overcome all the challenges that the Republic of Srpska is facing - said Gajanin.

He stated that the celebration of St. Sava's school glory at the University is an important event in order for students to become exceptional professionals, but also people who will live in the spirit of Orthodoxy.

Senior Assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy, Dejan Došlić, who delivered the speech "Treasure of St. Sava" at the reception, emphasized that St. Sava is a central figure in Serbian history, culture, literature, but also art and heritage.
