Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons performs administrative and other professional duties which refer to:

•    System of the protection of displaced persons, refugees and returnees;
•    Exercising of the rights of refugees, displaced persons and returnees in accordance with the Convention on the refugee status from 1951 and the Protocol on the status of refugees from 1967;
•    Provision of the full legal protection of the named persons, in accordance with the Annex 6 and 7 of the General Peace Agreement for Bosnia and Herzegovina: status and property rights of refugees, displaced persons and returnees;
•    Provision of the alternative accommodation for refugees, displaced persons and returnees;
•    Rights of refugees in the Republic of Srpska;
•    Reconstruction and construction of, management and maintenance of the accommodation facilities for the displaced and socially impaired population;
•    Participation in the reconstruction, and construction of the housing blocks, infrastructure, cultural, religious and public facilities aimed for return and re-socialization;
•    Designing, monitoring in the sphere of reconstruction and building within the Ministry’s jurisdiction;
•    Programs of re-socialization of the socially impaired categories of refugees, displaced persons and returnees;
•    Coordination with the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry for Displaced Persons and Refugees in Federation BiH, and international organizations which implement programs of re-socialization of the refugees and displaced persons;
•    Drafting of the laws and by-laws within the Ministry’s jurisdiction and other duties provided by the law.
