Minister Đokić attended the opening of a new facility of Prijedor heating plant


​​Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Petar Đokić attended today the opening of a new facility of Prijedor heating plant, which converted a central heating system with expensive and impure fuel oil to biomass, which is much cheaper and more environmentally friendly resource​​.

Minister Đokić said that the city of Prijedor had developed and showed a model to solve important municipal issue with more rational management, better quality and, probably, cheaper service in the future.

'It is important that this project is implemented together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is an important financial partner of the Republic of Srpska and ​monitors the other projects in the field of energy in the Republic of Srpska, but also in other areas,' said Minister Đokić.

The Minister pointed out that the city of Prijedor was distinguished in terms of timely response in emergency situations for all heating plants that were supplied with mazut, as in Banjaluka.

'The construction of cogeneration plants is also important, generating not only heat but electricity as well, and thus contributing to the energy efficiency and balance increase, that is, an increase in the amount of electricity,' said minister Đokić.

The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Lejla Rešić, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jan Brown and Mayor of Prijedor Marko Pavić.
