In order to legally regulate the energy efficiency and meet the obligations under the Treaty establishing the Energy Community of South East Europe, and promote and implement the energy efficiency improvement measures in final consumption, the Republic of Srpska has adopted the Law on Energy Efficiency. This law transposes Directive 2006/32/EC on energy end-use efficiency and energy services and Directive 2010/30/EU on the indication by labelling and standard product information of the consumption of energy and other resources by energy-related products, while the third directive regulating the energy efficiency in buildings, that is Directive 2010/31/EC on the energy performance of buildings, has been transposed by the Law on Spatial Planning and Construction. The aim of the law is to achieve sustainable energy development by implementation of policies and energy efficiency improvement measures in final consumption.
This means reducing negative impacts on the environment, increasing security of energy supply, meeting the energy needs of all consumers, rationalizing energy consumption and increasing competitiveness of local economy.
