In terms of observing the law, police duties are:

•    Opearational-professional tasks which enable the protection of life, personal safety, human rights and freedoms, safeguarding of the constitutional order from violence, and protection of the Republic’s security in accordance with the law,
•    Protection of all types of property,
•    Crime prevention, apprehension of criminals and their handing over to the competent authority,
•    Maintenance of the public peace and order,
•    Protection of speciffic persons and buildings,
•    Safeguarding of public gatherings, culture and sports events and other types of approved mass gatherings,
•    Safeguarding and control of the traffic; assistance to other institutions; civilian protection; speciffic fire protection duties; protection, prevention of traffic, utilisation and storage of the dangerous materials.

•    Legal – administrative,
•    IT and communications,
•     Material – financial and property tasks,
•    Education and training,
•    Control of procurement, storage and carrying of weapons and ammunition,
•    Personal citizen nimber,
•    Residence and passports,
•    ID,
•    Driving licenses, vehicle registrations.
