After completion of primary school, pupils may continue their education in secondary vocational schools which last for three years or secondary technical schools which last for four years. There are also gymnasiums which offer high level of knowledge and provide excellent preparation for higher education.
There are 92 secondary schools in the Republic of Srpska, 88 public and four private secondary schools which are attended by 43,913 pupils.
Ministry of Education and Culture undertakes many activities in order to adjust the enrollment policy in secondary education to the needs of labor market. The aim is to educate professionals which are needed and competitive on domestic and foreign labor market.
