The Council for the Standardisation of the Language of the Serbian People and the Cyrillic Alphabet established

Minister of Education and Culture Željka Stojičić attended the constitutive session of the Council for the Standardisation of the Language of the Serbian People and the Cyrillic Alphabet held in the premises of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"The strategic determination of the Republika Srpska is that the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet must enjoy the special protection of the Republic, scientific, research and educational institutions, which will intensify the activities of their affirmation, promotion and protection in the Republika Srpska in the coming period," said Minister Željka Stojičić.

She emphasised that the Ministry of Education and Culture has launched a series of activities that significantly promote not only the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet, but also our culture and cultural heritage as a whole.

The Council for the Standardsation of the Language of the Serbian People and the Cyrillic Alphabet is established by the Law on the Protection, Preservation and Use of the Language of the Serbian People and the Cyrillic Alphabet adopted in 2022. The following members are appointed to the Council: Prof. Sreto Tanasić PhD, Prof. Dragomir Kozomara PhD, Prof.  Ranko Popović PhD, Prof.  Milanka Babić PhD, Prof. Biljana Samardžić PhD, Doc. Saša Đukić, PhD and Prof. Mijana Kuburić Macura PhD, Prof. Milanka PhD was elected the President of the Council and Prof. Mijana Kuburić Macura PhD. the deputy president.

In the following period, the Council will establish the Rules of Procedure and guidelines for further action and development measures according to the adopted policies in the area of language and alphabet protection.
