Cultural heritage is unique and irreplaceable cultural value of one nation and created through generations directly points to social, educational, cultural and civilization level of development.
The value of cultural heritage, whether material or non-material constantly rises due to natural duration of time but also because of unstable environment and development of new technologies and the change in style and way of life. Care about preservation of cultural heritage in 21st century is not only declarative obligation of respective institutions but also a moral role of the entire modern society which recognizes the importance of cultural heritage and creates conditions for its preservation in future.
Revitalization of culture in the Republic of Srpska is of crucial importance for the future and represents the imperative in the context of social, political and economic development. Therefore, the objective of the Ministry is protection, strengthening and promotion of cultural diversity what includes the style of living, the ways of co-habitation, systems of values, tradition and beliefs.
Merging tradition and heritage with the modern is the basis of cultural industries and the goal is creation and promotion of new ideas what creates new approach to the essence of cultural identity, i.e. heritage but also to new employment opportunities and thus economic development. Culture and art may in combination with other economic branches promote intercultural understanding and makes the pillar of socio-economic development of the Republic of Srpska.
