The Government of the Republic of Srpska at its 65th Session, held today in Banjaluka, confirmed the Law Proposal on Amendments to the Law on Museum Activity.
The reasons for amending the existing Law on Museums are contained in the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina ratified the UNESCO Convention on the intangible cultural heritage preservation 2008, making it necessary to make amendments to existing legislation and harmonize it with the Convention. In addition, one of reasons for drafting the Law on Amendments to Law on
Museums is its harmonization with the Law on Republic Administration.
Passing this Law is aimed at the preservation of intangible cultural heritage through its identification within the different communities living in the territory of the Republic of Srpska, considering the identified needs of these communities to preserve from oblivion cultural heritage, such as language, speech, oral history, literature and other linguistic expressions, music, songs, dance and other forms of performing, which are parts of their vivid cultural traditions.
