Department of Local Self-Governance for the Ministry is in charge of the administrative and other professional duties related to:
• research-analytical and statistical-evidence affairs regarding local self-governance, political organizations, social organizations and associations of citizens,
• drafting of the laws and by-laws within the Ministry’s jurisdiction,
• drafting of reports on policy implementation of local self-governance units for the previous year, on decisions made under the jurisdiction of parliaments of local self-governance units, on suspension of the execution of decisions made by their parliaments, on the execution of law and other regulations as well as intrenational contracts in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, based on mayors’ reports,
• administrative supervision over the performance of local self-governance bodies and the legality of acts,
• parliamentary system,
• the political and territorial organization of the Republic of Srpska,
• electoral system,
• the organization and development of political-territorial and electorial system of the Republic,
• the execution of law regarding local self-governance and other regulations of the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
